The Department of Film at Brooklyn College
The Department of Film at Brooklyn College offers film degree programs that encompass a full range of study including, film production, documentary production, screenwriting, film studies and industry studies. The department is home to approximately 350 students from over thirty different countries. Together with their diverse backgrounds, many bring previous college degrees or a general interest in the arts to the study of film.
Students enrolled in the Documentary Production concentration receive technical training in producing, directing, cinematography, sound recording and editing. Students produce and direct documentary films in beginning, intermediate and advanced production classes. The Documentary Production sequence offers students a thorough foundation in the fundamentals of documentary production as well as a background in documentary history and aesthestics.
The Department of Film also offers a Study Abroad Program in India which emphasizes documentary production in collaboration with students at the Prasad Film and Television Academy in Chennai.

Brooklyn College Department of Television and Radio
The department offers a Bachelor of Arts degree in television and radio, a Bachelor of Science degree in broadcast journalism, a Master of Fine Arts in Television Production and a Master of Science in Media Studies. We offer our students departmental scholarships, industry-sponsored internships, and teaching assistant and research credits. Students' television production work is shown on CUNY-TV-Channel 75 in Manhattan-and on B-CAT-Brooklyn's community access channel. Radio production work is webcast internationally on www.brooklyncollegeradio.org, and locally over WBCR. In addition, student work appears on select National Public Radio programs. Each summer broadcast journalism students produce their own local news broadcast for B-CAT.
Our faculty come from all over the world, and includes several award-winning documentary and news producers/directors.“Shopping to Belong” and "My American Neighbor" are some representative titles.Our part time faculty includes senior executives and award winning reporters and producers from 60 Minutes, WNYC-AM, NBC, Fox News and Fox Television.They have worked in many different aspects of documentaries and news productions.Our alumni have key positions in South Korea, Greece, Brazil, France and elsewhere, as well as in California and New York.The newest member of our community was a top notch radio documentarian and reporter from the American Midwest.
